K10 LWB Towing Questions.

Almost hate to say this but why are you towing the jeep? Just drive the thing! If it won't go down the road nice, fix it? Or leave the damn jeep at home and just do what you want to do with the truck that you trust to take you there and back already.
think about 3/4T axles. Bigger brakes and a beefier rear axle help along with better chance of good tires, more lug studs, probably lower gears, etc, etc.

In all seriousness, we had a guy move up here to work and he drug all he owned (rock buggy, some tools and a 12 pack I think) with a 90's 1/2T and it did fine. Synthetic fluids for insurance and driving slow were 2 of his tricks.

I'm in the Army and I'm PCSing (being reassigned to another installation) and have a no sh*t deadline when I have to be there.

My Wife has a car that she is driving. We have the Jeep (which is fully operational) and the K10.

I'm trying to get all three vehicles out there without shipping any of them.

Best thing I've come up with is the Wife drives the car and I tow the Jeep behind rhe K10.

The Jeep can only row 3'500 lbs. So towing anything behind it is a no-go.

I've got a set of tons. 14FF is disc swapped with 3/4 ton rotors and 1/2 ton calipers. I didn't want to out them under the truck due to money (fixing up/ selling my house here, the moving expenses, etc. etc.) but they may have to go under regardless.

Both axles are 3.73 geared. 14 bolt has welded spiders... but I have another set if spider gears to put in.

Is your wife's car lighter than the jeep? Front wheel drive? If so, throw it on a dolly and have her drive the Jeep.

Yea, it's a Chevy Cruze, way light.

The catch is she's staying in TN until the house sells and needs the car for work...

Yea.

So it seems like a dolly is the preferred way to pull the Jeep with the K10?
Thats what i would do. Probably leave the jeep on the side of the road when you hit CO, cuz your tired old truck will be huffin and puffin without oxygen

He can leave the K10 at my folks place and drive the keep. I'll come get the K10 later
:D

The K10 will tow it. Put good fluid in everything, watch temperatures, plan on traveling at whatever speed it all feels good and it'll be fine. You don't have a tow rig but you certainly have a truck that can tow.
Thanks for doing whatever it is you do.

Not to derail.....

Where are you living when you get here?
I'll be living on Fort Carson but I'll be all around Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs and Woodland Park.

I was stationed at Carson from 2010 - 2014 and can't wait to get back there!

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

It's my pleasure, I get to blow stuff up on a regular basis so I enjoy my job a lot.
