I had orginally thought that my blazer was a k5 but was recently looking at its title and it says the it is a k10, what is the difference between the 2?

1982 6.2L Diesel K5 Blazer, TH700, 31 inch tires.
Fire ALWAYS makes it better.

The K10 on the title just designates it as a 1/2 ton 4x4.
2 wheel drive Blazers will have C10 on the title, but are still refered to as a K5.

my truck's not dirty, it's earth tone paint

K10 = 4x4 1/2 ton (p/u)
K5 = 4x4 1/2 ton (but Blazer/Jimmy)
K20 = 4x4 3/4 ton
K30 = 4x4 1 ton
S10 = Little guys

C10 = 2WD 1/2 ton
C20 = 2WD 3/4 ton
C30 = 2WD 1 ton

Then in like 88' or 89' They changed them to "V" series b/c the p/u's went to IFS front, but the Blazers/Jimmy's stayed with the straight axle, but still switched over to the "V" series in (pretty sure it was) 89'.
Boss

89' 1 TON of FUN K5

The VIN designation regards a 4x4 K5 as K10.
K5 is just what a Blazer is called . No matter if it is 4x4 or 2 wheel drive. ;-).
Now the registration is another ball o wax.
On mine for body it says Utility. I have heard others designated as station wagon.
I gotta say my parents station wagon in the 70's looked nothing like a K5. LOL

my truck's not dirty, it's earth tone paint

WRONG!!!
That is utterly WRONG!!!
WTF?!?! I'm starting to sound like Executioner now!!!

Yep, here in CT they don't register my Blazer or K5 or whatever (haha) as a truck. Technically here its a station wagon I suppose. They tell me the reason for this is because it has a back seat.
Yep,
anywho..

I'm glad the DMV calls mine a 2 door station wagon

. Kinda of a funny law they have here, my 1/2 ton K10
wink.gif
requires mudflaps, but my 2 door wagon, lifted higher than the truck, doesn't. hmmmmm.... Politicians............. I guess I should be quiet about it............lol

I'm also glad it is called a station wagon. Here in CA if it is a pickup you have to get commercial plates which cost more. I used to own a 61 Willy's jeep pickup and the regestration on it was twice as much as my 86 Blazer. Yet I could take the rear seat out of the Blazer and it is the same thing. I quit trying to figure out DMV a long time ago.........Dan

But be careful those of you w/ station wagon on your reg. I found out the hard way that there is 2 different lift laws. 1 for cars and 1 for trucks. If it's a staion wagon its a car. A sharp police officer will catch that. I had drop bumpers that were low enuff to keep me legal ( as a truck ) I even dropped them 1 xtra inch to be safe, still got popped!

PURE INSANITY If ya can't stop,Smile as you go under!
