k1500 barelly starts

replaced the starter and still starts like ****. cleaned the terminals. how could i tell if its time for batt cables. its got 200k mi. how can i tell its not the 4th fuel sending unit?

Sounds like you have some grounding issues. Is your battery grounded to the engine block AND frame/body?

have you had your battery tested?

Optima yellow top reads 14.5v the neg goes straight to the front of the block i havent looke for the body grd bc ive never removed the engine before

Did this start only after replacing the starter? Started ok before starter went out?


Never mind misread the post.

Remove the paint inevery point were the terminals touch the block, frame or body, i put the 3 grounds, battery-engine block, engine block-frame, battery-body, look at the cables they might old and rusty or even broken if all of that has been done and the starter keeps giving you problems take it apart and take a look inside watch and the part in the center tha things that spins dont know what its called and if it looks like marked you will see it right away then its bad.

What exactly does it do? Does it turn over slowly, or does it take forever to start, or does it click ... we need more details.
