I came across a really good deal on craigslist for a K20 I'm considering purchasing. The owner said his son ran it hot and thinks the block is cracked because it least coolant right where the starter is. Could this just be freeze plugs?? It ran well prior to that as the son used it as his dd

The truck has a 4in lift and 35s with both the front and rear locked. The bed has some dents and a little bit of rust in the corners as usual which is no big deal. The interior is in great shape other than a few cracks in the dash.

What would you all feel is a fair price for the truck and do you think this could be a inexpensive fix?

Thanks, Rick

Would need a lot more info and maybe pictures to give you a price range. Also, it has been shown repeatedly that the prices vary depending on where you are in the country. I don't know what the going rate in OK is.

However, when you say "it ran well prior to overheating", I'm assuming maybe it doesn't run so well now. If that's the case, then it's worse than a freeze plug. A freeze plug won't affect how it runs, it'll just leak and get hot, but should start and run (briefly) just fine.

Not saying don't go for it, but I wouldn't pay him any more than what a truck with no motor costs - that's basically what you'd be getting.

An engine swap is fairly easy depending on your tools/skills, or can be a show-stopper if you're not equipped for it.
