Hey Guys
Would love to upgrade to buckets on my 84 K2500. Mostly because I feel the factory bench (and its a nice seat mind you) affords me less then adequate leg room. To backtrack I changed the OEM steering wheel to a later model (smaller diameter) wheel. Coupled with loosing 50lbs my gut no longer rubs on the steering wheel. =) However at 6' 1" and 215lbs im not a tiny guy.

Im not of the opinion that a seat swap will magically make the interior space larger. However I would love if my K20 was as comfortable to drive as my 91 Blazer.

I'm open to about anything. Had thoughts of using Suburban buckets, till I realized that they don't fold forward. Also I'm told while the conversion is straightforward (if you get the donor brackets) you don't gain much as far as comfort goes.

Heck I would even use a split bench from say a "round nose" 88 and up pickup. My buds is pretty comfortable but again, different cab and who knows if it would help comfort wise on my K2500.

So, what do you guys think?

This tends to be an issue on many reg cab trucks, and not just squares. Though this has also been one of the chief complaints I have with my 1990 F350 quad cab....even with the bench seat all the way back, I still feel like I'm short about a foot of leg room, and makes long drives in that truck extremely uncomfortable for me. The situation has improved in the newer trucks, though, with longer cabs. I also have a 2010 Ram 2500 reg cab, and although I still run the seat all the way back, there's barely enough room for me at 5'11".

Chances are you have your K5 seats set to where the seat back is behind the B pillar, a position just flat not attainable in the reg cab truck.

yep std cab in these older trucks = no real set back extra room feel .

i have a truck with factory buckets in it and there is no real noticable change . yes more cummfy with 2 arm rests per seat but thats it .

now another of mine i swapped in mid 00's chevy venture van 2nd row seats . there buckets with firm foam yet cummfy also side bolsters to hold you more . 2 arm rests and built in center cup holder on driver side . but i had to make my own seat frame and mounting . but at the same time i lifted the seat around 1-1.25" and it helps the angle your legs are at a lot .

i am 6ft and 250lbs and use tilt wheel and no problems.
