Okay, so I know about this plateless Chevrolet K2500 Silverado Extended Cab Long Bed. The truck is in pretty bad condition, dents, rust, missing a lot of parts like mirror, grill, lights, front driveline, interior, pedals etc. Im pretty sure it have the 6.5TD, but Im unsure about modelyear - the windows said "92", the interior is somewhat from a 96 +. But its all making me very unsure, it does have that two-tone grey and red(ish) paint - how can I tell the year ? What trannsmission and TC will this thing have ?

Im thinking this could might be my next project. Can someone fill me in with advanced specifications on these trucks, you know like Engines, Dimensions, Drivetrain etc. What should I check further up ? Rust ? Accerories ? Options ? Whatever ?

Your thoughts, please..

6.5's didnt come out until '93, if it is a turbo diesel it will be a 6.2 with a banks turbo. the uild sticker on the drivers side door jamb or emissions stick under the hood should have the year of manufacture. You can also run the vin code on carfax.com that will tell you if the truck has been in any accidents, flood, or fire damage. I'm sure someone on this forum has a carfax account. I believe if its a 1990 or later it will have the 4l80, any thing before that it will be a th400. trnasfer case will be a np241 either way.

Thanks. It might be a 6.2, and it might be a swapped in 6.5. Forgot to check stickers and VINs, is there a other way to tell ? The paint ? How are 4L80Es compared to TH400s strenghtwise ? Do they *only* come with the NP241 ? I really dont care about accidents, floods etc. I just want to save this little puppy.. :)

4l80 is 91 -up. and it is the overdrive brother of the 400 tranny.

So its basicly the same thing with OD ? Im reckon a 4L80E is a electrically controlled 4L80 ?

Well, Im really unsure about that part. Im thinking its left behind beacuse of its condition, or something. Im hoping cheap...

O.K. SO NO 4L80 TRANNY. SO SHOOT ME. WHEN WE ALL SAY 700 THEN THERE IS NO 700 TRANNY IT IS A 700R4 TRANNY. BLA BLA BLA.:mad1: :screwy:
