K30 / 3500/ 1 Ton Info - TBI & Dana 60 Front?

Hey fellas-
I am in process of building a 72 fj40, thinking about going all chevy drivetrain cause I am not a Furd fan (Its got a 302 in it, cant have that). I need some more info on the TBI & dana 60 combination one ton trucks and burbans. I need some sort of fuel injection (extreme incline).


Question: What years K30 / 3500 / One ton pickups & burbans came with TBI (all 454?) & dana 60 straight front axle? 88-91? or ???. Also needs to have SM465/ NP205 / 14 bolt rear. Pictures would be awesome, so I know what to look for.

87 and up should be FI....doubt if you'll find a MT in a Burb, and they weren't any 60's put in burbs.

SO, down to K30's/3500 crew cabs/CUCV 1 tons. Sounds like 87-91. Any known differences in motors?

Did any V30 vans come in 4WD?
 
Its going to be difficult to find a sm465/205 combo along with a TBI'd big block in one package. And if you do thatd be so sweet you would go to chevy hell for dismantling it :flipoff7:

There were no V30 Vans, and no van came in 4wd.
Vans are G30.
The only place you will find a 454 with a D60 and manual tranny is going to be a K30 regular cab or crew cab 1987, or V30 crew cab 1988-1991.
I happen to have one at the moment for sale 1989, and I am only 10 miles from you in Lincoln, CA.
I might even be inclined to sell you the running gear only if it's what you need.

how much stuff do you have? you always seem to have what people need, and always "swinging" by to pick stuff up. you running a chevy junk yard? ck5 junk yard?

Hopefully my dirtymax and old vortec 1/2 ton will keep me out of chevy hell...I will put the chevy badge on the FJ??

So 88-91 front dana 60 are balljoints? I need kingpins going to be turnin 40's. Also you can probably see im looking for the whole donor to salvage as much as I can. Steering box, links, column, ECM, harness, shift linkage, clutch, brakes....

You will notice I am more active in the winter time when trucking slows down.
I was a bacheloer and aquired lots of projects and now when slow I sell them.
Give me a year or 2 and you won't see me selling much anymore, I am almost down to what I want to keep.:rolleyes:

He's wrong. GM D60's were king pins right up until they went away after 1991.

Also, the CUCV's were all diesels and TH400's.
 
Ok narrowed even further, K30 and V30 only from 87-91 with SM465/NP205 dd drop.

What exactly is the difference between the K30 and V30? Which one would have a 14 bolt rear, not dana 70 DRW? I assuming any SRW with a D60 front has a 14 bolt rear, sounds somewhat rare?
 
The V30 was the new name they gave the square body 1 tons since they also had the IFS 1 tons starting in 1988 which were officially the K3500's.

SRW trucks of this body style got the 14FF rear end. Dually pickup trucks got the Dana 70. Cab and chassis (not pickup trucks) got a narrower dually 14FF.

i'll edit my post but i still think your going to Chevy hell for using a truck that sweet as a donor :haha:
 
Talk to imiceman. That rotted one he has would make a great donor. It's mostly dead anyway.

The rotted one is 350/4l80e/ 205 and it's already parted and sold.
The one I suggested is the clean one and we're already talking. He lives 10 miles from me.:whistle:
I will have to sell him the SRW setup D60 frt 14bff rear from my blue truck with the rest from my other truck if we make a deal.

chevys with solid front axles were passenger side drop.

Thanks, I realized after that was a typo/brainfart.

Can anyone confirm K30 (87-91) /V30 (88-91) were made in SRW versions? If so, were they D60 front / 14 bolt rear?

I know DRW's were all D60 front/D70 rear. Thanks
 
Yes, 88-91's were made in SRW. If you wanted the crewcab you had to get the old body style, SRW or dually.

Bunch of folks on here own them.

SRW in our body style were always D60 front and 14FF rear.
