I am having trouble with my '81 K30 with a 454 with what I believe to be vapor lock on warmer days. In cool weather, no problem, but in 85*+ weather, it has become an issue. The truck runs fine, shut it off, start it up a few minutes later and will only run for a minute or so and wants to die, and does.

I don't see anything wrong, the truck is bone stock, newer fuel pump. Any solutions?

Recently started doing it? out of the blue? gradual? fuel tank vents plugged? heat shield fuel lines near exhaust pipe/manifold. run will the gas cap off for a few start/stops see what happens.

I'd check into the vents first since they're free and easy.

I'm embarrassed to say it's been a problem for a couple years. I don't drive the truck in the winter or summer, just spring and fall when there is only a couple days here and there warm enough to make the problem surface. I've just lived with it on those hot days and always say " I'll get to this eventually."

Also, just a little bit of starting fluid or gas down the carb and I can usually get it running again pretty quick.

I'll check on the tanks vents.
