whats the trick to getting a k30 cucv rear step bumper onto my 85 k5?

secondly are the shackles a decent enough recovery point to even warrant the effort of the cucv bumper?

You can use the bumper but the D-ring/shackle brackets are different. Look for the brackets from an M1009 and you're set.

First part - the brackets are different. Do you need the step bumper or could you just cut holes in your current one. Otherwise it's like Wes said.

Second part - in a word............yes. You could also just use a receiver hitch shackle much easier although it limits your options.

well cucvs of any sort are slim to none here and a step bumper is definatley preferred over the slick one. and i cant use a reciever hitch because of my ORD shackle flip and i sold it a while back.

can i use the stock k5 brackets and drill new holes in the k30 bumper?

I put a step bumper on my old K5, had to notch the bumper to get it close enough to the body to look decent, since the K5 frame horns drop at the back, instead of coming straight out as they do on the trucks. I'm assuming it would be no different for any step bumper...

? I thought the only difference in any of the frames was a 1ton frame was wider is the rear?

You should only need to locate the brackets narrower together.

Pickup trucks don't use the filler panel between the bed and the bumper like the K5 do they?

Blazer frame I know for a fact angles downward at the back, as that is where the hinge springs mount, and the filler panel is also angled/stepped to match the "drop" of the frame horns. When I put that step bumper on my K5, the reason I had to notch it was that mounted any higher up the tailgate hit it.

Someone post up pictures of the back of a K5 and a pickup frame.
