I thought I'd share some of the work I've been doing planning my roll cage build with others who might find the data useful. This is a partial 3d model of my 1971 k5. I've been using drawings and measurements from my own truck to build it as accuratly as possible. This current model has 104" wheelbase and 35" tires.

It's built using NURBS geometry (instead of polygons) so if you were really good, you could build pretty accurate stuff from it. Feel free to change, hack, other otherwise abuse the file as you see fit, just don't try selling it. I'll update the download as I make changes to my own stuff, but the picture shows the current status.

The 3d file is located here:

To view the 3d version of the file, you'll need a 3d viewer for "rhino3d" files. I'm not sure of the rules for posting links to software, but there are a couple free viewers and converters for solidworks or other programs available as well as a free demo version of Rhino3d if you google a bit. I can post a link if someone tells me it's ok.

Anyway, enjoy!

No problem. If you do anything cool with it, I always enjoy pics. :)

I actually updated the download already to correct some dimensional errors with the wheel well sizes and locations as well as the bed area. I'm sure I'll find more problems, but the new version is much more aesthetically accurate.
