All of a sudden it starting reading way past full, which is usually a sign of a bad ground, which it could be, but when the tank is almost empty, the gauge starts to fluctuate wildly.

This only happens when I'm alsmost empty, otherwise it NEVER budges, so I suspect the sender is bad. LMC has a new one for $130 + SH, and the FLAP is $120 + tax.

Thoughts???

Mine does the exact same and it has for three years now but is still accurate so I just keep going with it for that much AND dropping the tank:eek1:.

I just bought a sending unit off rockauto for about 35 dollars I would recommend looking.

Really? I can get one fer cost + 10% from a friend that works at FLAP, and I thot that was better than over $1oo from Advance!

Yup, $78 shipped, hmmm, not worth bugging my friend... I've got a diesel, so always more $$$, I wonder why, but beats FLAP!!!

The diesel sending unit has the "water in fuel" sensor incorperated into it--I haven't had a diesel sending unit out to look at,I'm not sure if you could use one intended for gasoline by transfering the water in fuel sensor over--no,wait,the diesel one also has a additional outlet to siphon off the water, that goes to the valves near the front hanger for the rear spring..so they are different!...and thus, more expensive!...

How could urs be accurate and be the same as mine? mine just sits stuck at 3: o-Clock 99% of the time!

Well I guess I did not get all of your symptoms, mine goes to 3 oclock and drifts down more or less with the fuel level and around 3/8th or so it bounces wildly around but I can still tell about where the level is. :dunno:
