Hey does anyone know if the bed floor sheetmetal on K5s are the same? I thought they were but now I'm second guessing myself. I have a 73 and just found an 80s K5 in a scrap yard with good floors.

I know the 80s blazers have a step down behind the driver seats to allow for more leg room.

I'm an idiot. I was at the scrap yard surprised to see a blazer with floors. I didn't realize that the 4 or 5 ribs in the bed floor on the sides are a different width. I cut a section out of the middle because the sides were pretty rusty. Someone already cut out the whole front section behind the front seats.

The LMC floor ribs don't match the factory ribs exactly. They are close but not exact. I didn't care because it is all covered up where the new and old but together. These pics sort of show that.

You did a great job ! Maybe I'll try the LMC panels. I bought Tabco panels which are probably another overseas manufacturer. They were way off and very thin. Not impressed.

@formercruiserhead Very Nice Work !!!

I bought the back left side from Ray Buck and it does not fit the rib design either.

How bad was the left back side area where the back carriage bolt for the body bushing goes ? I need about 2 pcs 16" X 16" square to replace my damaged areas. One piece would need to have the hole in it from the back left body bushing hole ... the rib swerves around the hole.

If in decent shape, I would gladly buy a couple of pieces ...
Thanks,

Sorry it's all long gone. The ribs aren't that far off just not perfect. And if you aren't doing a 100k restoration it's all covered up.

Another thing to keep in mind is that ribs on a Blazer floor taper down to flat at the rear edge. On a truck, the ribs extend further back. Using the back of a truck floor will hit the tailgate.

That's good to know I didn't realize that.

I'll try that junk yard one more time. I remember seeing some suburbans, maybe the floors are a little better since they had a roof over them.

Excellent thought on Suburban's ... I have pulled a lot of items off a couple of Suburban's, never thought about getting the floor patch pieces I need.

I got some nice floor patch panels ! I cut them out of an 80s silverado.
I hammered the edge down to match where it rolls over the tailpan on my truck. This naturally straightened out the section making it curve. I'm guessing I'll have to make relief cuts and bend it flat again. Then weld and grind the relief cuts? If there's a better solution let me know. Thanks

Do the k5 rear floor rib spacing match the spacing found in the suburban and truck floors? I keep hearing lmc patch panels don't match the floor ribs.

It does match the truck and I believe suburban. I grabbed patches in front of the wheelwell on a pick up. The 4 or 5 ribs on the sides are different than the ribs in the middle of the bed. The suburbans have a drop down well behind the wheelwell for the spare tire. So there isn't as much space to grab nice sheetmetal.

Another option perhaps could be the chevy vans. Lots of floor space and GM made the vans from 73-96

It is too bad LMC can't make patch panels that match the factory ribs.
