Jeez! My back window cable is about to kill me! :doah: Okay, let me set up the story. My factory cable finally died about a year ago. So, I started looking for a replacement. The Chevy dealership parts house tells me they cannot order them anymore, so I kept looking. The best I could find was from LMC Truck, so I ordered one from them. I got the cable in the mail, and man was I disappointed. This Chinese piece of crap is poorly made and will not stay "snapped" into place in my window gear assembly. Is anyone else having issue with replacement back window cables? Has anyone found a decent replacement cable? If so, I'd like to hear from you. I'm getting real tired of my window being stuck half up/down all the dang time.

I ended up using the LMC one have had good luck with it. But I agree, when I seen how it stays in place, I was like Ugh, that doesnt seem secure at all. Especially with the amount of force on the window and cable itself. Maybe Rock auto or if you can find some new old stock somewhere, if you do, lemme know. Id like to keep an extra around.

Also when I go to junkyard, Ill pull the factory cable if its in good shape, bring it home and just keep soaking the inside with WD40 and just have spares. Been awhile since a K5 has been in the junk yard, so havent had much chance to get any.

Maybe you're over thinking it? The chinese cable is probably put together better then the rest of that tailgate :haha:

I replaced mine with the one from LMC and it works fine.
