73 to 80 are one type, 81 to 87 (91 for Blazer and Burbs) are a different style.
Either one will fit in any year cab, but will not fit correctly with the dash cluster.

eric, what is so different with the dash cluster? is it something that is easily modified?

I installed the early style pad on a late model truck. The guage cluster face ... or whatever it's called (the large plastic face that covers the guages) doesn't fit well to the dash pad, there is a gap. I have an earlier model guage cluster face and am going to install it, just haven't had the time (gotta cut out / fit for the stereo). I think it should work fine though, the guage clusters are all the same size, 73 to 87/91.

I can snap a few shots of the fit as it is if you're curious. I doubt I'll have time soon to fit the older guage cluster face.

Here you go. The top looks the worse, the sides aren't too bad. Unfortunatly, the top is what you see all the time.
