Interesting video where someone cut the K5 Blazer frame to fit the tub. I thought the 78-91 K5 Blazer tubs were identical. I know the front body mounts changed around 1981. I thought the rear body mounts did not change on the 78-91 tubs.

Yeah, whoever did that is a complete hack. I just watched this today. I would be so bummed to find this. Not exactly how I would fix it either but it was a quick job for sure. I’m sure what James did will work but man what an absolute bummer for the guy who bought it like that.

I think he did a good job of taking a lemon and trying to make lemonade with the frame. It was interesting to see the hangers bend out due to the frame hack. Crazy that someone would cut the frame.

What if you do a 2" body lift and make new mounts for the middle row of mounts? I thought @cybrfire put a new body on an old frame at some point.

I did. Don’t remember a whole lot about it. Fabbed up some new body mounts. Not a huge deal

I didn't watch the video, but I put my '90 Jimmy body onto a '79 frame back in 2018. The rear was not a problem. The radiator support mounts needed pulled forward slightly. Having a previously distorted body possibly didn't help.
So far it hasn't self destructed.. yet.

I'm in a different pickle. I have a 77 frame and a 78 body I'm putting on. The original body was dust from 45yrs Northeast salt winters. I have to remove the middle frame bracket with the body mounts and fab a new bracket further back to account for the backseat footroom that started w the 78 bodies. I'm worried the frame may need to be modified too. I'm gonna cross that bridge next summer I think. I had Kurt at Diy4x fab new mid body mount brackets for me but I'm still not sure how I'll actually make this work.

I've looked at DOZENS of 78-91 frames for parts I could use. They all look the same from the middle brackets to the back end.
