Hello,

Ok all I had some time off and am tring to get the Blazer done before going back to work. I have a few ?'s, I used a lift I got off the doner blazer it has tuff country on the springs and shackel flips on the rear, will i need angle shims for the axels? I'm not sure of the total lift I'm guessing its 4in. Will I have to get the drive shafts extended? Also is there a better way to get the dang pitman arm off?

You shouldn't need to shim the axles and your drives shaft length will be fine. Are you changing your pitman arm or steering arm. Pitman arm, get a puller from someone. You might be able to rent one from your local parts store. If you are removing the steering arm, get a BF Hammer. I use a ten pound sledge.

wow you really lucked out finding that on a parts truck, A big hammer and lots of pounding is about the only way to get the pitman arm off.

Whatever you do, do not pound on anything while its attached to the steering box. I had an old-timer tell me not to do that, but I went ahead and did anyways, and the box started leaking. Evidently its pretty common. Hitting the arm attached to the axle: ok. Hitting any of the stuff attached to the steering box: no no no!

Ok well I got the steering arm off. After alot of hammering I took off the linkages and hit it close to the end and boom!!! it pop the dang cone holders out. On to the drive shafts the rear looks like it doesnt have much in the snout now, should I have it lengthed. The front looks fine angle wise but it looks like its bent. I did get all the parts from the salvage yard so it might have been picked up by the fork lift. I would post picks but I havent found a host.

if you have a cv(constant velocity)aka(double cardan)coming out of the transfercase, you want the pinion angle to be parallel( no angle in pinion u joint), if you have a single cardan setup then you want equal opposite angles in both u joints. i cut my perches off and rewelded them to make it happen on my 70 with 4 inch susp. single cardan setup. google it pinion angle/driveshaft angle, lots of info out there. i had a differant axle than stock in my truck maybe that is why shims didnt work.
