Ok so I found another k5 on craigslist and thinking about jumping on it.

http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/cto/2822151732.html

I'm trying to figure out how much money I will need to get it wheelable minus the tires which i plan on buying new, I want the 52/56 swap and I already have the 60/14 4spd/205 covered.

My list so far....

- B52 brackets= $170
- EZ inch x2= $66
- 14 ff disk brake brackets= $45
- Parts for disk brakes= $300
- Detroit locker= whats the cheapest around?
- Shocks?

anything else maybe, I need some help as my brain hurts.

The 52's are free, But the 56's you need to find. I believe 52's up front will raise the vehicle around 4" So you will also need to either home brew a shackle flip for the rear, or buy one from DIY4X or ORD.

Probably new bushings for the springs also.

And Always, Always add a few hundred for unsuspected things like hardware, paint's, brake or carb cleaner, PB blaster, wd 40, cut off wheel's, etc...etc....

Brake line fittings strip, wheel stud threads get jacked, hubs are discovered to be garbage, tie rod ends are found to be shot, etc.....

Simple projects can nickle and dime you hundreds past what you thought you would spend.

Looks like a good deal, I would jump on that one!

Will you be driving it on the street much? If not I would save the cash on the detroit and go with a mini spool or welded diff.

As previously mentioned small stuff adds up quick...

On the shocks prices can vary alot depending on what kind of quality you want. Do you want custom valving? Do you want rebuildable?

I think BBCS shocks are good for the money. Ford shock mounts for the front allows for longer travel shocks.

With any lift approaching 4" or more you are going to want crossover steering so you may want to add that cost also.

Wonder if the top leaks. Why cover a truck that looks well used? Still, unless it is rusted out, looks like a good deal.

I expect you'll find a few things that you forgot to budget in. My mistakes will make you feel better. LOL I'm finding out how sick I am now but I know there are others out there like me so I feel a little better. Craigslist has sucked the life out of me. it all started when I got my 79' back to life. Now I have 5 K-5's... well 2 are just parts truck (86 and 89) and I have a set of 73's.... Nice to meet ya'll. Sorry if im stealing your thread.

I bet that Blazer top leaks. Otherwise why have a stripped out interior (moldy?) and plastic....

I always say if it starts and will run down the road at 60MPH, the brakes work well, gauges work, 4wheel drive works etc... it will be worth the $1K.

Just be carefull buying older crap I always say. It was some elses turd very likely:)

Also it seems like our beloved K5s and Suburbans are getting really cheap. I am shopping for an older Suburban and have been shocked at the low prices. I'm also hoping gas price shock this summer cuts the prices even further:)

Ya the costs do add up quick but I also found a 72 blazer for 1000, I have always wanted one but I dont know how much of mystuff will interchange with that style.

My 60/14 4spd/205 crossover steering shackle flip kit are all coming off my 80 stepside BTW
I'd buy the 72....you live in st helens and probably dont have to pass DEQ. But, that truck will be more valuable in the furture to someone who does live where they have to go through DEQ.
