Hey guys I have tried to search the issue on here and everyone was talking about at high speed turns. The issue I am having is at low speeds, if i crank the wheel either way and don't give the blazer gas it will die. Just curious if anyone has had the same issues, or if this is a normal thing. I had a buddy that had a 80s pickup that did the same thing and he thought it was normal. Thank you in advance.

I am not sure don't have a tach. I have been thinking about getting one. So do you think the idle would need to be a little higher if it dies like that?

Alright so I installed a tach and the truck was reading about 3-400rpms when I shift it in gear or turn at low speeds. I changed out the idle air control valve and Pcv valve and it is idling at 800 rpms and is at 600 when I shift to reverse or drive. Hopefully this did the trick. At least the rpms are up to help with the preformer plus cam I put in it. Thank you for the help and I hope the post helps someone in the future. Love this forum

TBI rigs are supposed to idle at 550 in gear (with an auto trans) or 550 in neutral with a manual trans. Later vehicles like my 96 Impala use a pressure switch in the power steering hose that raises the RPMs when it senses a load on the system just for the reason of not being able to idle if the engine gets dragged down too low from the power steering.
