im making a list of little things i need to do in the next few weeks to get my blazer up and running. one of my things is i dont have the key for the door locks. the parts store has a set for like 13 bucks but how do i get the old locks out without messing the door up?

Take off the inside door panel off. There is a clip that holds the lock in place. You remove that clip from inside the door panel. Just don't drop that clip.

yep, clip will look like this on the backside of the cylinder:

pull it straight off and the lock cylinder will come out! :waytogo:

If you do drop it, hope you got lights, time, and magnets!

I never had any trouble finding that clip after I dropped one--on my trucks (and probably many owned by members here),our doors have no "bottom" any more thanks to rust,so the clip falls right down to the ground!.............:doah:....

This one place Fords have GM beat. They use that same clip, but its accessible from the outside on most cars and trucks.
Just open the door, and you see the edge sticking out of the side of the door.
Push it sideways slightly to release it, and it slides right out.
Then you can slide the lock cylinder out from the outside.

Just replaced the lock on my pasengers side door... super eazy.
But my clip did not look like that!
Mine was all rusty looking. :D

Well maybe I should have mentioned that too, I thought mine ended up in the bottom of the door, I looked in there for 10 minutes then noticed it fell though a rust hole and was laying in the muddy driveway! :doah:
