How involved is it to change a power over to a manual?Parts list?I hate my power rear window. My 79 that i sold a few years back had the manual and it worked great ,no problems. :doah: Man I miss that K5!

Has anyone made their tailgate into a two piece unit like any contemporary truck? ie. tailgate folds down, while separate glass swings up with hydraulic struts? I was thinking that using a truck gate, and maybe a frame made of aluminum for the glass? Struts are easy, and the frame hinging to the fibreglass top shouldn't be too tough either. In fact you might be able to scalp something from a p/u topper, or minivan that might scab in?

My old K5 tailgate was manual and worked fantastic. My current 86 Burban is electric and is slow going down but fast going up.I would like to change to barn doors. Is this possible?Whats involved? That 2 piece thing would be cool too!

does anyone make replacements??

mine is scratched all the hell up.
If you mean the tailgate glass for a '91, LMC Trucks has them for about $140 (tinted, of course). Chevy Duty should also have them.

My motor in the tailgate had to be replaced a couple years ago. I used a cadilac seat motor. But this past couple weeks, it took a dump.
I never use the key switch on the tailgate, becase I do not have the right ket for the tailgate. Where can we get that replaced, or can it be re-keyed to fit the door locks?

Sure, just stop by a lock shop and they'll quote you a price for that.

well, on my 82 Blazer, the rear window goes down nicely, it's a little sluggish coming up and then it quits going up about half way. I get out and shake the glass genly and pull it up a little and it seems to get unstuck, then I get back in the truck and continue messing w/switch and then it goes up all the way. Took a look inside many times but can't figure out what causes this little problem...needs weatherstripping badly.

on my 73 the regulator is stripped and the handle is missing, so I used some duplo (large legos) I think it was 21 or 23 per stack but I made two stacks wrapped in duct tape and that holds the window up to lower simply remove duplos.

None of the above, when i got it, it was slow, eventually stopped,,when i changed the battery in my truck it kicked butt after that. Amazing what a new battery can do, it started working again after the battery.

Paid nearly $1500 for a working gate and window installed. It works, but it's slow and hit and miss. Sometimes it only goes halfway up, or halfway down. Sometimes it doesn't budge at all. When I bought the truck, the rear glass was lying in the back seat. :) Wasn't fun driving in weather below 40 degrees....

Mine shatter about 7 months ago. I cut a piece of plexiglass and it's held on with screws, rings and padlocks. :D

I went from power to manual

My power slider had it's last day. I looked into fixing the guts but it looked like a ton of work plus the gate was rusty as hell since they salted the roads back in utah. Last summer I bought a manual gate off an older Blazer and that's what I use now. The handle is broke so it's a pain to roll up and down but it works. I'd rather have the power slider but I'll deal with the manual - at least it's working at the moment even if the paint doesn't match.

well I just picked up a good working complete tailgate at pull and save off a 89 blazer for $50 so I should be able to stop using my duplos to hold up the window once I get around to putting it on (a little exhuasted from removing tailgate and lugging to the cashier (they put all the gm parts way in the back ford people don't have to carry stuff so far).
