I'm looking for a center to center measurement of the middle bumper mounting holes on a K5. Is this the same width as a suburban? My sub pictured below measures 26" roughly. Thanks.

That sounds about right. I think my outside-to-outside measurement was just about 29" after I plated the frame and the horizontals are about 2" wide. My horns were pretty bent up from the rocks and I tried to get them as straight as I could with a pipe wrench and sledge.

If the engine towers are the same between both frames, they're probably the same width...plus the B52s and rear shackle hangers are all the same and the spring perch width is the same...

Thank you sir.:waytogo:

They should be the same then. I'm getting 29" outside frame rail to outside frame rail on the burb.

Should be the same for pickup, Burb or Blazer in the same years, i.e. 73-80 and 81-87/91, 'cuz the bumpers and grilles for one fit the other.

That is, the front frame for any 73-80 truck should be the same size, and any 81-up is the same size (but differently shaped than the 73-80, IIRC.)

Make sense?

That didn't work for mine... The brush guard I had was '81 and up I believe and it wouldn't fit my '79... But, that was about 5 years ago...

I know that my front winch bumper is off of an 86 Burb, and was a direct fit (although I had to drill mount holes) to my 80 Blazer. I didn't need to make any modifications to the mounts, and it mounts to the outside of the frame. Basically, they are the same width quite possibly from 73-91, although pre-81 frame horns are different from the 81-up.

maybe then the 81-up guard could be grounded are reshaped to fit the contour for pre 81s. It just seams so hard to find any brush guards now days.

I just threw an 81 and newer bumper on and called it good... They look better to me anyways...

So is the consensus that a 81-up will not fit on the pre 81?
The contours are going to be very different, it could be done but wouldn't look good. Much simpler to use the 81+ bumper with the brush guard, than to try to match the contours on the older bumpers.

I like finding the old used guards (junkyard, craigslist, etc) because they are a lot stronger than the newer ones that are available. The guard I got for my '77 is BEEF.
