k5 MPG?

proper air in the tires is also crucial to good gas mileage. i top off before any highway trips. driving home, with one rear tire at 20psi with the other three at 42psi, (yeah yeah, i slipped up and forgot to check before i left, found it when i got home) and i got around 14mpg doing 50-55. topped off all four tires before driving back to school, got 21mpg doing 55-60.

Gas mileage in my old '85 1/2T 4x4 pickup with a 305 Q-jet, 4 spd, 3.07's, stock suspension w/ 33" Thornbirds was 14mpg cruising about 55mph on a trip to Christmas Valley, OR. :D

Gas mileage in my old '76 3/4T 4x4 pickup with a 402 big block, holley 4bbl, TH400, 4.10's, 7" lift with 35" BFG muds was 6mpg on I-5 going 65mph. :eek1:

I've been meaning to try using a vaccum guage to try to get the best mileage, suposedly you just keep your engine speed to where your vaccum is the highest & you get the best mileage. I dunno, gotta try it. My '77 K5 D44/350/350/203/14BFF w/ 4.10's will be my new daily driver, I'm hoping for 10-12mpg.........wish me luck! :haha:

I get 12-13 with my Blazer on the street (I don't know about highway use ) 350/Th350/Np205 stock gears (3.73) with 31" tires......I'm going to be changing my auto locking hubs to manual hubs....both for a better performance and save on a little bit of gas.

dont forget that bigger tires will make ur speedo and odometer read slower, so unless you've factored that in, or regeared accordingly, your actually getting more miles than the truck is recording, and slightly better mpg

'64 Chebby 3/4 ton, 327 (swapped out of a bus), th350, 3.73 gears, 33x12.50 AT's
Performer RPM intake, 600 cfm 4 barrel, 2-1/2" dual flowmasters.

20mpg @ 65-70 mph.

Went 498 miles on 24.8 gallons in a 25 gallon tank... scary.

'01 Dodge Ram, 5.9 L, 3 something gears, 31" AT's, chipped, OD tranny, cat-back Flowmaster

16 mpg at 70-75 mph

But, the '01 had more ponies pushing it around.

'07 F-150, 5.4L, 255/70R17, 3.73 gears, don't even care anymore. If I actually knew I would walk around pissed off all of the time. It needs gas, I need to get to work. it costs $100 once a week. :(

thats actually a really good point i forgot about. anyone know what size tires the M1009 trucks originally came with???? might be interesting to see what kind of mileage im really getting if it comes out at 21mpg now with 33in tires :)

31x10.5R15's but I think some of the early ones actually made it out with LT10.5R15's...which is the same size just old school.
