Who here has OBA on their K5 and where did you locate your air tank? When I had my burb, it was easy. The burb was long, had lots of space to put BOTH my tanks. Now on the K5, I see I'm limited to places. I have two 5gallon air tanks. I don't have to install both. Just looking for ideas of what people have done, what has worked, what hasn't, what people would change on theirs if they would. Pics would be great also.

Oh, and the tank will NOT be located inside the tub as that is precious cargo area for the family of 5.

Well, that pretty much relegates it to the frame rails, i.e. the underside.

One of the joys of my semi-buggy K5 is no tailgate, so right now the airtank is on the left half of what would be the tailgate. (I think that'll change and I'll move it up a bit to fit a tool box underneath.)

However, short of putting it on the bumpers and getting into the exploding air tank argument, underneath is gonna be your only option... outside the frame rails like a slider, or inside if it's small diameter.

Not a K5, but mine is under the hood. -

How do you like it in there?

It's by far the most obvious spot for me.. I have absolutely nothing on that side of the compartment...

I would think it would stay more corrosion-free in there.. But also might heat the air up more...

It works great. I ran the quick connect through the grill (made a small plate with a covered switch) and I just plug and go.

I'm sure that it gets hot, but I don't fill the tank until I am ready to use it. With the york, there is not much of a wait.

I agree with the no wait time. When I had my york setup in the burb, I always left my tanks empty until I needed them. Took no time at all to fill 10 gallons worth.

How much clearance do people have directly above the rear axle? That was an option I was thinking of.

I have my 2 1/2 gallon tank bolted under the bed just forward of the axle... as far forward so it can sit in that 90* corner where the floor pan drops lower behind the drivers seat... Am I making sense?
I gotta get a camera soon and let the pics speak for themselves...

I don't have issues with the axle hitting it.. I'm thinking of installing a 5 gal tank in place of the smaller tank so I'm not too sure about clearance yet.

i'm running a 2 1/2 gallon tank frrom sun performance on the inside passenger frame rail just behind the fuel filter. Tucks up nicely. I'm thinking of mounting another tank in the rear footwell area under the body as well but need to recheck clearance in that area.
