Hello,

I just recently got an 83 K5 that has been bastardized. It's been painted several times and all the stickers/ tags (Vin, options codes, etc.) have been painted over. Id like to find the original options this truck came with. I know it was dark/ midnight blue from the factory but all the interior was replaced. I didn't know if there was any other way to figure out what options my truck came with, without having the options codes?

Thanks!

IF your Glove box door has not been changed your SPID (service parts identification) label should be on the inside of it. On that label will be multiple rows/columns of 3 digit codes. From there, you are a google search away from decoding what the codes are.

If the glovebox door is not original or the label is gone, there isn't much of a way to trace back what it came with. GM dealers can run the Vin and pull up the same detail, but it only goes back to about 1990. I work at a dealer and haven't been able to pull any data prior to 1990.

Ok, damn! The one on the glove box is gone. Thanks for the help!

You can pop your VIN in at www.compnine.com and get a full RPO report. I think a 5-count subscription was like $5 bucks. I still have an account with a few times remaining. You can PM me your VIN, and I can email you back a PDF report. I have used it on several mid 80s VINs and worked just fine.

My .83 had the RPO tag on the inner fender, underhood.

And if you're lucky you might find the build sheet under the seat between the foam and springs. That's where it was on my pickup - don't know if they did that on Blazers.

I don't have the original seats or glove box. I think I'm SOL.
