I am working on my 87 K5 tailgate refurbishing it and took the rear power lock cylinder out today. Well F%*k me the larger pole on the cylinder came out of cylinder. Not sure if it is broken cause I can put it back in it's spots and it holds but now not sure if I should spend $ to get it rekeyed since never had a key or do I have to shell out $$$$ for a new one? I can only find it new on LMC at the $ of 130.00. Like I have that laying around for a lock when I have so many other things need for my truck etc.
So what do I do guys? Do you guy's need a picture to help me out?

Well got it back together at this work morning but cleaned contacts before we put it back together. My question is there spec for the gap on the contacts, like points?
Anything I can check also before spending $ to have lock keyed to match rest of truck? Never worked on the older type tailgates.

I don't think you need to worry about the gaps. You can test it on the truck before you bolt it all together. Of course I did this, and once I put it all back together, it failed again lol.
