My K5 suffers from the classic chevy broken pivot steering column. I know its a pain in the ass to fix, and it really annoys me. Does anyone know of a bolt in replacement or suitable swap?

Do you mean the tilt wheel bolts are loose, or broken? Not that bad of a job to tighten, or you could swap a non-tilt column from another K5 or truck around the same year, 84 and up I think.

column

Yeah it is completely loose right where it suppose to pivot. Same thing happened in my last K5. I guess I can try to find a new used part.

tightening tilt pivot bolts

the bolts are a little advanced to do, but with a few special tools it will be easier. here is an exploded view but don't let it scare you. it is number 51 you are going for.

Make sure you put the u-joint (for lack of better term) back in the same way it came out. You CAN get it 180 deg off. And that is a bummer. Mark it with a sharpie.
