k5 top color

well i went n done it, i bought another k5 today. that makes 4..but i had too this 1 is a 2wd full vert 74 model. the guy i bought it from is only the second owner but he bought it when it was only a yr or 2 old. he tells me the top was black from the factory, but im leary as the inside is white, while the outside is indeed black. its a golden rust color and he says the rockers were black also and i can see remnants of both white and black below the lower trim. did gm ever do this with the white inside of the top n black outside or were the black tops also black inside?? im wanting to go back original with this 1, but i think i prefer the white tops, altho with windows tinted on a street rod the black may be ok.

my top on my 87 is white on inside and black outside and pretty sure it is factory there. Might be a dye or something they used to turn them black from factory.

Same here black out white inside factory code 1Z59 says black aux top 1974 as per my service parts tag from the glove box.

Mine was partially worn off on the outside when I got it so I think they all started out white and painted the outside as requested.

It's all white now.

Yep. Mine started black on the outside, white on the inside. I fixed it though.
