hey all,,
I have a 85 blazer 350tbi / bowtie overdrives built 700R4/10 bolts with 4:10s/33" tires/no lift....just bought a 6x10 carson flatbed utility trailer and was wondering if towing a quad and dirtbike should I worry about being too much to tow with my Blazers set up ? also Ive have read about not using OD to tow ...are we talking about the weight i would be towing with this set up or is that with Heavier loads?? thank you very much for the help or advise as I have never towed anything with my Blazer

the only things you need to be concerned with is NOT having enough tongue weight and the trailer being out of level. let's say the whole trailer and quad weigh 1,200 pounds, you'll need at least 120 lbs on the hitch. 10-15% of trailer total weight is the rule. too little tongue weight and the trailer will sway on you. i wouldn't worry too much about towing in overdrive with that setup. make sure the trailer bearings are good and packed and all the lights work.......happy trailering

Thats a pretty light setup. If you are towing in the flats, and are cautious to not let the trans hunt between D and OD, you can tow in OD on the freeway.

Otherwise, keep it in D, and you'll be good to go!

Never hurts to add an Aux trans cooler and gauge though. Towing or not, heat is the enemy of auto's, the 700r4 in particular.
