Do you go thru a specialty collector insurance provider or just add to the K5 to the policy with one of the large auto insurance companies?
As for establishing value I have NOS GM parts purchased 20+ years ago that can't be bought any more, fenders, doors, rockers, rear K5 floor and tailgate. I don't have the receipts for the GM parts and if I did the current value is much more today then when first purchased. The specialty collector insurance company is asking for receipts. The parts are at least 3x what I paid for them today. Prices for K5s are all over the place.

If you never go off-road (and will sign off on that), it's easy. Just pick a collector provider and agree upon an insured value. It helps if you have historic plates. If you actually use the vehicle, be aware that that there is no comp/collision coverage that covers modified vehicles.

I've been posting this for years and nobody has (confirmed) evidence to the contrary. I just keep hoping somebody will post up an accident report with modified suspension, drivetrain, etc and the insurer actually paid out, but for many years nobody has.
