I think there needs to be a K5 wiki. We could have topics on K5 parts. How to write ups. People could add to it and edit it. At times when I search the forums to much info is hidden/ difficult to find, or the other comments are off topic. I think a wiki would be a great resource. Thoughts?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. If it is not my apologies.

Sounds like it would be a very useful addition to this forum especially for mod and repair write-ups.

Or you could just buy a membership and have access to all the info on CK5.

If I built a wiki website for a K5s would people be interested in using it? I've built them before.

I've tought about it. Is the content better for the paid customers?

Seriously, buy a membership. Its $25 for a year, thats a pizza and a six pack. (good pizza, and good six pack!)

A wiki would be cool.

What I would LOVE to see is a compilation of GM Wiring diagrams for every year in PDF format so you can download, print and take to the truck. Surely someone has them here, and someone can scan them in. Shouldn't be too hard.

I don't understand how it works. If anyone can edit/change things, how does bad info not make it in there?

All revisons are saved. The collective community decides what is in and out. The community polices it self. So if good content is replaced with bad content the good content would resurface.

The forums are great but content is locked deap within. This is because the content is not structured. The wiki would provide a framework for which content could be organized.

So say I wanted information on how to replace a fuel pump. There would be a wiki page for fuel pump. This would contain details on the types/ makes of fuel pumps. Recomendations from others. How-tos etc.

If enough people are interested and willing to contribute content I could build a site. The site is only a good as the community that supports it.

Take a look at this.................

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3370991-The-Official-Golf-Jetta-MK3-Forum-FAQ

This is VWvortex. This link is basically a "stickied" thread, that contains a compilation of links on various info and DIY's run by the mods so you do no have to search box all archived contents. The mods decide what gets in or out and is sub'd into categories, engine, body, electrial, suspension, etc and is also broken up by chassis designation (for us it would be early blazer/late blazer)

So someone takes pictures and a detailed write up of installing an ORD cross member, or a electric fan converstion, window regulator, etc, the mods see it as worthy and add it to the list. This would be extremely helpfull for information.

I'll contribute, I've done a few things that have been a little our of the ordinary that some people could find helpful

Actually, something similar is coming to CK5 probably close to the end of the year.
