Anyone here have a Kayline/STC soft top on there 2nd Gen K5? I need a few pics and maybe measurements. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks Brandon

Mind showing a few pics of how the back window holds to body? Believe I am missing a few back pieces. I have the STC 5 window for 87 k5 but not sure or can find what's needed for rear. I can post pics of what brackets I do have if needed.

you'll notice the "wrap-arounds" from the 1/4 panel, don't hook under... mine appears to be missing the J hook plastic that runs down the sides at the bottom of the windows, sewn into the back corners.. i'll have them added, it would fit perfect with that...

I got mine second (or third or fourth) from a buddy of mine and I had the same exact problem. I ran out to Homo Depot yesterday and found some carpet grippers. Bought that, modified it a little bit, and it works really well for 7 bucks and a little bit of time.

how did you attach them to the top? I just can't see anything working well that isn't sewn into the top.. that sh*t needs to stretch to hook under the channel..

Ryoken do you know where or how I could make that piece on your tail gate? I know for sure I do not have that part of the soft top. I will have to check the corners tonight when i get out in the garage. Thanks

it's a "j" style piece of alum obviously... that the hard plastic at the bottom of the window tucks in...

ummmm, to be honest, no clue.... :doah: i'll go take a peak around McMaster carr and see if they have anything similar..

I'm not surprised that would be missing.. left on a tailgate at some point, etc..

I think I would need you to measure your J channel on your tailgate both in width and length to get the closest possible correct J channel?

ok, went and uncovered the rig.. here's a pic of it..

it's not as deep as I thought, but a bit deeper than what I saw listed in my brief search.. the long mounting side is 1"... it than comes out a 1/4"... than the "j" lip is 1/2"

you should be able to source that somewhere.. it's alum that I polsished.... but ss would work too I suppose..

Try looking into jeep windshield channel from a cj5, I've got some around if I can find it I'll get a pic.

Forgot total length of J channel lol (how many screws are in it).I think my corner plastics pieces are the from looking at it folded up in the garage. By the way why is that K5 covered up? It's 10 times nicer then mine and I drive my truck. How would you go about cleaning entire top without it on the truck? I though maybe some saw horse then soap/water or your secret recipe for cleaning them.
CJ5 huh maybe if I can find some time to hit up junk yard I can look. But think Ryoken is on right path with J channel and junk yard hopping is so hard with work and my little girl.

it's basically the width of the gate.. 65 1/2".. it has 8 screws, but you could put in any # you want..

the K5 is covered until the fall when I can get back to working on it after my CC's tubebed project... it has no axles under it, no trans... and it's not exactly a stock/bolt parts on, kinda build.. :haha:

oh, cleaning.. I would just wait till you install it... much easier with that structure behind it.. I use spray 9 to clean stuff like that, but any soap and water should be fine.. soft bristle brush...
