I seem to have a problem with carbon fouling spark plugs. I'm starting to lose my mind trying to figure it out. I'm looking for any help i can get before my trip to Moab next week.
My engine setup:
chevy 383 stoker
Vortec heads
mild cam (rv cam)
HEI Distributor
AC Delco 41-993 plugs
.040 plug gap
SummitRacing intake
Holley 670cfm Truck avenger
68 primaries
87 secondaries
base timing @ 12 degrees
I installed new plugs and withing only 30 minutes of running they were solid black. The holley is a Factory refurbished and was bought two weeks ago. I was having the same problem before with a Quadrajet carb. I thought it was the carburator so I bought the truck avenger but am still having the same problem. Is my HEI getting weak or is too weak for the vortec newer style spark plugs??
Any help is appreciatied
