Long story short: I got the bug bad to replace an old K5 that I lost a while back. I really did not want to buy a project, went and did anyway. Really paint and window/cab seals. Couldn't help myself, body was super clean except for a few minor places. I was super excited. Now it's bugging me... (Thinking about rust creeping up keeps me up at night.)

So now I'm trying to figure out if I should continue my plans to clean it up or if I should sell and buy one of those "Street Classics" or the like which look super clean. Plan was to have it for a daily driver. Guessing the additional cost should be about the same to redo it vs buying another one already done.

If I could find someone to do the work that is... I don't have the space or the equipment to to tear it down and do it the way it deserves. That and my wife laughs at me when I mention doing it myself... (I'm handy though slow and distract-able)

So thoughts?

Or does anyone in/around NC know a good place to get work done?

The super clean trucks are big $$ these days. Post some pics so we can see what's what. And any decent shop is gonna be big $$ also.

In my opinion..........if you are capable of performing the labor your self it is generally cheaper and you'll end up with a better rig if you do it your self. HOWEVER.... in my opinion if you don't have the space, time or ability it is MUCH cheaper to buy a vehicle that is done. At least a done vehicle you can make your own with little mods like tires, wheels or lift kits. Simple bolt on weekend projects.

I know a guy about a hour from you. His work is great, but the price is high.

Depends really on your budget!

If you have a pretty solid base to start with I'd just redo the one you have. You could always take the interior out to see exactly what you'd be getting yourself into. If you redo the one you have you can make it to what you want instead of what someone else made

You answered your own question. If that was my situation there would be no question...I'd buy one that is done.
