I have 44" TSL's on my rig (44/18.5x15). Approx. 50% tread give-or-take, grooved.... I'm happy with 'em - they seem to be a good, all-around tire. Can't really say that I've had any issues with 'em. However, I have different desires for the rig - like, I want H1 rims. Since that'll require 16.5 tires anyway, I have an itch to get some 42/14x16.5 Iroks. So I'm at a crossroads - do I stick with what I have, or upgrade to a package that'll have more benefits....?

Thoughts?

depends on your finances.. if you can afford it no problem, than get the 42's and h1's, if you really shouldnt spend it, keep the 44's

Really isn't a question of finances. Just a tire question, ya know.

Thats a hard call, I like the bigger rims for the brake options(I have dual piston front calipers on a High Pinion 60 and H1 rims). I know personally I'd keep the 44s, but if money weren't an issue....

No one has any thoughts or comments?

I do but I do not count :waytogo: seeing as i am mr 31" and have no intentions of changing my ways. so you are out of my realm. from what i hear though people like the iroks better than even grooved tsl's...

Spend....spend....spend.

Never stop spending.

Buy as much as you can all the time.

Buy upgrades for your existing upgrades......then sell your older stuff for $0.30 on the dollar.

:haha:

Well, that was informative....

So, no real tech stuff from ya'll? No opinions or firsthand accounts? I'm surprised by the lack so far.... :o

TRANSLATION (AT LEAST MINE):

"By my own admission, there is nothing wrong with the setup I have now...but I want something else...should I do it???"

Maybe I'm not understanding the point of your question? :doah:

What is your "benefit"....you don't claim to be blowing beads, so I don't see a "need" for H1 beadlocks. You don't claim to have a problem with the size (or width) of the 44s...so what is the motivation to go with a smaller and narrower tire?? Are you just bored.....do you want a cooler "looking" setup?

Sometimes we seem to change things for no tangible benefit or purpose....that was the point of my initial response. It seems like there is always a desire to try new things, buy new parts, swap things, cut, weld and modify....if for no other reason than to avoid "standing still" with a project.

Ok, Greg, to answer your post, I'm not blowing beads 'cause I'm not 'wheeling it as hard as I'd like to, and I'm not airing down as much as I'd like to - I want a setup that I don't have to worry about. Hence, the request for opinions and accounts. And, there's not motivation for a 'smaller tire', as you said - it is common knowledge that 42" Iroks are about the same height as 44" TSL's, and it's not narrower, 'cause the rim size will pucker the tire out to about the same contact patch, so those are out. And, this isn't about looks, it's about performance - no where did I say, "Which is cooler - I wanna put that on my rig"....

I've said it before, and I'll state it again: the purpose of this thread is to make the decision to use a different tread pattern for all around 'wheeling.

Maybe if you change the name of the post, more guys with Hummer wheels, or IROKS, or TSLs will find the thread and post up. Sorry, I can't weigh in. :wink1:
