keepin the noise down..

ok so i have a 76 k5 that has a spray on liner interior( well its a spray on but its peeling up) so what are some tricks that yall have used to keep interior noise down? i was thinking that matting stuff that keeps heat and sound down. but im not sure if it works very good. so any products that yall have used would help... the plan was to put carpet to the divider at the back of the cab where the bed is raised then find a rubber mat to go over the sound deadening stuff in the bed.

Everything I have ever tried has also kept in mud and water, so none made it in my truck. There is some ashphalt based pads in JcWhitney that work pretty well and are pretty cheap.
