My truck has no insulation or carpet , just metal floors.
While nice for clean up it does get a bit too hot at times. You can feel the heat radiating upward towards me.

Now to the point. How can keep some of the heat from coming up? Better, how can I utilize what I have already? I can’t really put it under the floor as it’s bit too cumbersome to adhere to the part of the truck...

I don’t really want carpet or that “vibrosound” stuff.

I’m open to cheap suggestions. Something I can lay under my feet.

I used the below under the tranny hump to satisfactory results.

When the time comes for me I’ll be using the sound and insulation coatings (two different products) from Lizard Skin. Watch the video demonstration on their site.

What kind of sorcery is that? Yeah, I’d prefer to roll it on than buy the entire spray kit...

Read up on it. It’s a ceramic coating, I think tiny beads. Sort of like how ceramic coating on headers reduces heat transfer.

I used some stick down stuff and the LizardSkin system on my truck. Very pleased with how it came out. I've used the LizardSkin before, but this is the first project to make it on the road with it.

Around post 55 I think the heat control stuff starts.

I didn’t read the entire thread, mostly just looked at the pics.
Why’d you apply the Lizard Skin over the Kilcoat and not directly to the metal?

Wait a minute: You are in AZ and have no floor insulation? You are nutz----like me.

You got headers or "conventional" exhaust?

Headers... When it’s get cold it may not be a huge deal. But I’d rather keep some of the weather out.

I wasn’t planning on doing the floor. But driving the truck more. I’ve changed my mind and need to put some insulation on the floor.

The KilMat is a mass product that is mainly for sound dampening...adds mass to the panel so it doesn't vibrate. It does help with heat as well. The boxes are cheap enough that I did the entire cab because it was empty. The LizardSkin went on top of that for it's properties...sound and heat insulation. One side effect of the spray on stuff is it seals everything together. If you didn't see, I did the under the floor as well as some of the firewall. Being in Michigan and having a clean truck to start with, I wanted to preserve that for as long as possible. There is also a new, thick, firewall pad to help too.

From the driving I did and the work inside the cab before the carpet went in, I'd have no issues with just running with the LizardSkin and not top coating it with anything (carpet or rubber). It held up great and the only issue I had was my fault.

Riding in the truck now, it's stupid quiet. I've ridden in new cars that have more road noise. You still get some wind noise around the cab, but that's just the design of the truck. And there is some tire noise, but that will be dependent on tire choice. Truck holds heat very well in the winter and the AC (what little I've used it since charging it) works awesome. I don't get any heat from the transmission or the exhaust. I should note that I started with a 2wd cab and still have the low floor and installed the "high hump" over top of that, insulating between the two.

Even stock, riding in a bare bones truck with rubber floor and just the cardboard firewall liner compared to a Silverado that has carpet, jute and the thicker pad, it's a big difference.

How much of that Kilmat would be needed to do the floor in my blazer? Firewall to th front of the rear seats?

I used it on engine side firewall. It’s basically the same thing as lizard skin.

reread your op, and you like the bare floor for ease of clean up. I’d use the second skin spectrum and once that cures throw on a bed liner such as herculiner.

Welp, the floor already has Herculiner on it. So I may be hosed. Maybe that kilmat stuff can adhere to that?

One box would do that with no problems. I used two boxes and did the firewall, floor, back of the cab, inside the doors and behind the dash. I got about 2/3's through the second box. I bought mine on Amazon. I got the 50mil thick style which does 50sqft.

I ordered it.. I figured I wouldn’t be too bothered by all the heat coming up through the floor. I did however, underestimate just how much heat comes through there.

I don’t want to carpet the truck. but I think having all that shiny stuff on the floor hopefully won’t be too bad with floor mats over it. We’ll see.

Finished it up today. I ended up just using the entire box which was roughly 2 layers. Overlapped pieces and cut some to get hard(ish) to reach spots. I didn’t remove the seats just cut around.

Tranny hump has insulation on the bottom and for ease in the event I need to get in there, I left it uncovered on top.

I can hear a difference just from closing the doors, placebo? I don’t know but it sounded more “dead”. Road test later

So tell us what you think. It has been a couple of days, plenty of time for a drive.
;)

And I would loo into something to cover that foil up and increase the durability of it.

Haven’t driven it yet. Super busy
I don’t really want carpet and LMC is back ordered on black anyway. Plus my refrigerator pooped out so I can’t justify $400 for Blazer carpet.. hahahahaha

I just put basic rubber floor mats over it.
