Just wanted to pass this along:

They do seem to work. i know there may be other things that could have been rigged up, but i didn't have any leather or any other suitable material handy. And, being this is my daily driver, i needed these tires repaired quick.
My colorado has 17" aluminums, and my first attempt to demount without protectors resulted in a few scratch marks. Not that i really care because this is not a show truck, but i wanted to prevent any further damage to the other 3 wheels.
i guess that is one good point about old reliable steel wheels: You can put tire irons on them with no worries. IF, on the outside chance, they do get scratched, just paint over it.
