Killed the tranny today

I think I killed the tranny in the K5 today. I knew I was gonna replace the TH350 with an overdrive at some point, but didn't expect to have to do it this soon. I was running the truck up and down the street in front of the shop. Truck was pulling hard around 4500 RPM in 2nd, it hesitated, then no more go. Coasted to a stop (the engine still runs fine). It has no forward gears 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, or reverse. Dropped the truck into 4LO, and nothing there either. I checked the fluid and it still looks clean...dipstick just say a pint low. This sucks. :(
 
Fragged the pump or possibly the convertor maybe? I think it'd have to be one of those two to lose all forward and reverse gears that quick and have OK looking ATF still...

If you can do all the suspension and panel alignment stuff you've already accomplished, you can swap a tranny. YOU CAN DOOO IT!!

Paying for the new parts sucks, you have my sympathies. Buy a new torque converter with the new transmission... if there's debris in the old fluid it will be in the old TC too (it's impossible to get all the fluid out of a TC without cutting it apart) and you'd end up ruining your NEW transmission too.

Are you thinking 700R4 this time around, or maybe a 4L60E or 4L80E?? :pimp:

Leaning towards a 700R4 cuz I don't wanna do the external computer controller deal. I'm thinking a Bowtie Overdrives or Monster Transmissions 700R4 as the "end state". Cash is an issue at the moment...a tranny wasn't in the project plan this early. So...I may get a rebuildable 700R4 and do all the fab work to get it in and driveable until I can buy the "nice" one. That way when I do buy the nice one, it's just a swap.
