I killed one of the u joints in my rear shaft. I want to upgrade the driveshaft what is usally done on these. I also want to undrop my tranfsfer case. The NP208 is not going anywhere. I was thinking a double cardan at the slip yoke and a regular u joint on the axle side

im guessing ur truck is lifted,so its the angle that is killing the u joints? most guys do a 1350 series CV shaft. a couple different places make them. but now u have to decide if u want to do a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) on the 208. then the slip will be in the driveshaft and not the T-case. and because the T case will be shorter,ur driveshaft will be a little longer and the angle will decrease. so after u decide to get a SYE or not then u can order the correct driveshaft. but a truck lifted 6" or more a CV shaft would be a good thing to have. or u joints will burn up a lot.

i forgot to add,a bonus of the SYE kit is that if u break a u joint or anything for any reason,u can take off ur rear driveshaft. and drive it in front wheel drive to get out of where ever u r without loosing all ur fluid. just like an np205

I saw a NP 241 on craigslist that was a passenger side drop what would it take to convert it from 27 to 32 spline.

The only SYE for a 208 is a dodge rear half correct?

With the crappy gearing I have I can't do a 205 and don't want a doubler

a 241 has a slip just like the 208. its just a newer style 208 essentially. and ive heard guys putting dodge parts on there but the popular one is from JB http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/NP241SYEkits.htm im not sure what would be cheaper or easier. but if u want to keep it simple and cheaper. u can order a CV shaft from say arizona driveline or drivelinesuperstore or another driveshaft shop, with a 1350 CV that will work with ur stock 208. my brother has a 208 with a 1350 CV shaft in his k5. it works fine. its just all prefference and what u want from ur truck (i say if he looses the rear shaft for any reason hes screwed) but a 205 or SYE'ed 208 ull be fine to get out of the trail in fwd.

i dont no much about 208s because i just converted my truck to a 465/205 and got rid of the 208. but maybe someone can charm in here that has experience. is the 241 SYE kit same as the 208 SYE kit? i believe it is but id get a def. answer on that

DO NOT drop yer T-case.

Get a custom CV shaft w/ 1350's all around. (less spares, if they're all the same u-joint.)
Thicker wall tubing as well.... You may not need it, but beefier is better.

if it is a stock blazer (1/2 ton) it will have a 1310 series rear u joint and yoke on the rear. i would get a 1350 u joint on the rear end side of the driveshaft. just because if u upgrade ur rear axle to say a 14bff. then ull be all set to put it in. but u can keep ur stock yoke for now. all u need is a conversion u joint. from a 1310 to a 1350. napa part #447.
