god im like a noob over here in tech.... i havent been in the tech sections since my suburban went down in 03...

ive got a C6 and an NP205 in my bronco. i want lower gearing. what do yall suggest? has anyone tried a klune-v? i know doublers kick ass but if i remember right i can get more gearing options with a klune-v. either way i know im twinsticking the 205.

dude, go to the vendors section... NWF's new gear box looks kick ass.

we have a vendors section? holy ****! i never venture beyond the lounge and sub forum.

Yep, NWF (thats North West Fab for you rookies :D ) has there new version of the Klune V out called the black box. It would give you a better lowrange & more options for gears then a doubler. It should be pretty strong too. As for the strength of a Klune there is a guy in the LV area named Dean who runs a BIG white Suburban with 42's, 1 ton's, Klune 205 setup, & crawls the heck out of it. They are saying with the extra add-ons of the HD parts & the big Road Armor bumpers & stuff it weighs about 8-9000lbs. If a Klune can take that then it can take a hell of alot.

There are a couple of other options to consider now too.... (see what happens when you go away for 3 years! :wink1: )

STaK Box - Offers 2-speed and 3-Speed transfercases (Available ratios: 5.44, 4.33, 3.75 & 3.05)

Atlas 4 Box - 4-Speed Box offered in two flavors (10.34, 3.80, 2.72, 1.0 or 5.44, 2.72, 2.0, 1.0)

Neither is particularly cheap....Stak 2-Speed is around $1650, 3-Speed is around $2600, Atlas4 is more like $2800.

However, they are direct replacements for an existing transfercase....(like getting a Doubler in a single case), so the overall length is close to stock, and there should be a lot less crossmember mods, driveshaft modifications, etc.

If I had it to do over again today, Stak would be my choice.

What company makes Stak?? Is this the name of tcase or the actual company? I've never heard of this until now...

They are really cool. Marv Springer installed one in his brothers Jeep. I got to see it on the garage floor before he installed it. It was a very nice piece of hardware. When I build my buggy there is a very good chance I will get a stak in there. They are $$$ but they are worth it from what I have seen & read.

I guess it depends on what you need... but I want more front driveline length... so a stak (while cool as hell!) wouldn't work as well for me as a doubler or klune or whatever.
