I need new tires (285/75R16) and I want an all-terrain. I really like the BFGs I have on the truck now, but they're about $50/ea more expensive than the Kumhos and $35/ea more than the Nittos. They'll see sand and mud maybe once a week and rocks maybe once or twice a year, but road manners are the most important thing here, my truck sees a lot of highway miles.

Anyone have experience with either tire?

I ran Nittos for a little while on my '01 2500 in that same size. Thery were smooth and quiet on the hwy and had good traction in beach sand and texas hill country deer lease roads. They do not dig for traction or bite well in the gumbo mud we have here and were somewhat prone to thorns in the sidewalls.

i don't like nittos because the tread is so shallow. i don't think they'd last very long. my first choice will always be bfgs for this type of tire. if i decided not to get bfgs, my next choice would be coopers, excellent tires and much cheaper. next would probably be procomps then interco

I prefer nittos. My 285/70r17 have somewhere between 30-40k miles, still good amount of tread left. I rotate every 5k or so, good riding tire though. But as much as I like the nitto's, im going with bgf a/t next time. Cant beat them, they look good, ride good, decent traction, good all around tire.
