L29 help

Getting ready to swap an L29 into my k5 and was pondering the whole TV cable connection from my 700r4. Before ya all go bashing on how that motor is gonna destroy my tranny please understand that it has been built specifically for high horsepower four wheeling so I am gonna run it. Mostly because I have it. Computer, harness rework, etc. But what about the tv cable?

Should be able to get an aftermarket cable and build some sort of mount off the throttle body so it can connect. Since the L29 is a drive by cable just like every motor that was ever in front of 700r4's, it shouldn't be an issue. I have a buddy who has a 5.3/700r4 combo and he just hooked up the TV cable to the mech throttle body on the 5.3 just like you would on a carb'd/TBI'd rig

Clearly you have never installed a 700r4. There is more geometry to it then simply "hooking up the cable". The cable must increase the fluid flow in the tranny at a specific rate as the motor accelerates. Get it wrong and you can cook a good tranny in a matter of minutes. When I installed my edelbrock carb there was a bolt on bracket for the carb specially for this tranny. I was hoping someone could point me towards a similar item or get someone who has made this specific connection before

The most important part of the cable hookup is that the cable is at rest at idle and Must move as soon as the throttle begins to move. When the cable is at rest, the pressure is lowered in the tranny, and as soon as it moves off rest, the pressure jumps to a usable amount.
It should continue to increase to match the engine output, but the most critical part is the first movement.

Greg Ducato here rebuilds trannys for a living, and is the guy to listen to.

Kay86K5 may or may not have installed a 700R4, but I assure that there have been more installed in more combinations by the members here than you can imagine, so you should have an answer you can live with soon.

Yes, that is why I am here asking this but I have for my homework and will continue to do so. I found this in my research but the price is a little absurd yet this is exactly what I am referring to. Think I may scale the pic and fab my own for a fraction of the cost. The critical part is the circular assembly that mounts to the intake.

Clearly you haven't done enough research and want a hand out (and I have installed dozens of 700r4's...its not rocket science)

Wow ....yes a handout of knowledge, or being spoon feed the knowledge as referred to on the forum sites.

First off, your original question is very vague. Can't tell if your asking what people have done to physically attach the TV cable to the TB with your type of motor, or the proper way to adjust the TV cable so the tranny will operate properly. More information next time you post will go a long ways. Second, when someone gives you some information to try and help with your vague question, probably not the best practice to jump down that persons throat by making judgmental accusations as to what the person has worked on and done. That's never going to go over well

There is a lot of research on the net about setting a TV cable correctly and about 20 min on google will get you where you need to be, but @Fordum has the basics down of letting it rest at idle but making sure it engages as soon as the TB swing arm moves and as progressive with the swing arm stroke as you can up to full throttle. And like I mentioned in my original post, physically attaching the TV cable should not be that big of a deal. You may need to make some sort of small bracket to hold the cable in place (or purchase the one linked above) and also make sure it's adjusted correctly, but some scrap metal should help with that. Since the L29 only had electronic controlled tranny's behind them, you will have to get a little creative. More than likely you will not find many people who have done this combo cause the L29 isn't the most popular swap (even though it is a really good motor even in stock form), especially with a 700r4 behind it. So you are going to have to come up with some of these small things on your own.
