I want to build a ladder bar for the rear of my burb. I am going to use 1 1/2 in. od. DOM tube. What wall thickness do I need. .125 or .250
I saw on extreme 4X4 they used 1 1/2 X .125 for their 4 link rear set up.
So is .125 wall strong enough or do I really need .250 wall.
Thanks Guys

It's all in the sig.

I used 1 1/4 in ID pipe (approx 1 5/8 in OD) with .140 wall. It was just what I had and I haven't tried it yet. Good luck.

Is .125 wall strong enough and .250 is just overkill.
.250 is 10 to 13 bucks a foot around here.

If you're going to drag the bar over the rocks, .120" wall will fold over the first time out.

If not, 1.5" .120" wall is more than enough, and HREW will be just fine too if you want to save a little coin.

If HREW is cheaper, does it come in thicker wall thickness?

You can get DOM and HREW in pretty much any size and thickness you want.

DOM is cold rolled and more precisely finished, its stronger and more expensive.

HREW is hot rolled and its dimensions are generally a little more rough, its not as strong as DOM but its much cheaper.

IMO, HREW is great for an application like an anti-wrap bar.
