Laguna's newbie K5 Jimmy Build

Those wheels should work out good for you. I had some 15x8s with 35s for a while with 4" backspace and they were too close to my TRE's. 3.75s will be perfect.

I cant order any of the suspension stuff until places open back up on Monday, so I've got the weekend to make any decisions. So far what I listed at the bottom of page 2 is what I'm going with, but would still appreciate any info or suggestions which could lead to me getting some better/different before.

looking good.... very nice pair of umm hands you have their to assist you :wink1:

If youre not going to be doing any serious wheeling with it everything you listed sounds decent. I would just give ORD a call and see what they can do for pricing for you, I believe they carry a lot of the stuff you listed.

One of the major limitations for me is I'm only a 20 yr old student with a part-time job and my own house, so thanks to bills and utilities the Jimmy gets limited funds.

I have to ask. What kind of part time job lets you pay for all of that?:D

I priced together a bunch of their stuff to make a 6" kit and it ended up being above my price range.

After high-school I was working at a steel mill making big money and I kept adding to a savings account which I had set aside for whenever I could find a K5 I wanted. Currently work at Napa so I get a wicked deal on parts.

and you bought a house?

Well, guess I didnt buy it. I have a mortgage and make the monthly payments on that..technically I didnt buy it yet.

Me and my buddies all found big money jobs out of highschool, and when they all went and bought brand new trucks and sleds and bikes I just kept putting the money in the bank. Now I have my own place to live and they all have they're new trucks sitting outside their parents houses.

Houses are pretty cheap in Saskatchewan...it wouldn't be hard to get something way cheaper than what rent would cost.

Here is what I posted in your other thread, and I bought my stuff from ORD:

I went with 6" TC EZ-ride springs up front, an ORD 4" shackle reversal in the rear, 4" TC EZ-ride springs in the rear, and left the front sway bar off. I have one Bilstein 5150 shock on each corner and the truck rides very nice. I also did crossover steering though while I was at it. At first I also did a zero rate in the back for a total of 9" of lift in the back. This is due to the D60 up front adding about a half an inch or more to the front over the D44 and the usual sag in the rear. Once I was done, it sat a tad high empty but with a load was about even. Then I pulled the zero rate and fabbed my own zero rate from an old spring to drop it a bit. Now I wish I had left the 1" zero rate in as it sags under load. For your application leaving the stock axles, I'd do the 6" up front, the 4" shackle flip, 2" springs, and a 1" zero rate can be added later if it sags with a load in the back.

Also, if you have a 700r4 tranny, I'd swap in 4.56 gears. If you have a TH350, I'd probably do 4.10 gears. Either would work fine though. Also, keep in mind that changing the backspacing on rims to make the tires stick out more places more wear and tear on your wheel bearings since the tires aren't centered on the outer suspension as designed. I think leaving the stock backspacing but going with larger tires you will be sticking out just fine.

WOW!!! Your a genuis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should teach a class!!! :haha:

The lift showed up and I've got the 35's sitting here, but I've decided to sell it now, it's doesn't work at all in the winter

The motor is brand new, has maybe 400 km on it. It's got a carb though so doesn't run very well, I hate having to climb outside every time I want to put the truck in 4x4, and it gets really cold in there
