i've looked into these. they were part of that project when the army needed a new vehicle, they obviously chose the hummer however some other middle eastern countries used them, they can supposedly pull 120-130 mph in the sand!!!! However i know a guy in the middle east who says the things break down ever week. but still i wouldnt mind havin one.

I drove a humvee for 18 months and would still rather have my blazer, granted it was government issue

it is always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission

Actualy I think they were tested against some armored suburbans and other vehicles.. They came after the hummer and were for the rich Saudi's. We saw some tested once

. I dont rember all the vehicles but the min specs were somthing like 120mph in 4 wheel drive... Oh yea they had to take a 7.62 round from like 10 yards. they all weighed a ton or 3 and the project didn't go far.

I'm not late im on Central Standard Time

I drove hummers in Guantanamo for a few months. I think they are great rigs. I never even got close to getting stuck, even in the hurricain that passed through when I was down there. ;) The thing does have some probs in really soupy, deep, mud, it is purdy heavy, and I dont think the tires they use on them are the best for MT. At any rate, for a mass-produced military rig, they are pretty nice.

We used to have good times doing "turret qual"...where you'd stick the new guy up in the turret, if you had the hard-top, and you'd hit a big 2-3' deep puddle going about 20-30 mph. Hehe, always fun to see a tidal wave of water being thrown up in a newbies mug. =p

I agree, I'll take my Blazer or a CUCV over a Hummer almost any day.

I kina like that SUV Porsche that looks like a modified 911 on 32's or so. Biggest plus is has an optional 500 HP twin turbo-ed V8

In response to:
Who here thinks that whoever designed the Avalanche owned one of these? Striking similarities in many areas.

Yeah, except this thing has chromed bumpers, whereas the avalanche is made up of mostly plastic! Also the lambo has over 400 hp stock, how much does the ave have?

K5- because size DOES matter!

I wasn't. I was in the Cavalry (Army). Stationed in Hawaii first. My unit had the hardtops. Every once in awhile some poor gunner would be soaked. Of course you know it rains everyday somewhere on Oahu so finding mud isn't that hard.
