Did the search thing and really couldn't find anything! I have a '87 Burb 1500 4x4 and everything is stock. It has running boards.......

I will be putting a 4 inch lift on the 12th of February. I have someone through Craigslist who wants to trade me some 33x12.50r15 Goodyear MTRs with 15/32 left on the tread mounted on 15x10 Chrome Steelies with the correct backspacing off of his Chevy for my 31x10.50r15 Goodyear Authority ATs with 14/32 left on the tread mounted on 15x8 Aluminums.

Should I absolutely wait until I have the lift on or can I do the swap now and just drive carefully until we lift it? I won't be doing any offroading until then........

I have 35x13.5x15 Toyo Open Country tires on my stock (not lifted) 1991 Blazer and they only rub a little when I backup and turn. 33's should be fine.

yeah, I'm going to bolt up a set on Friday morning that are on 15x10s with 4.5" BS........Big O in Woodland Park, CO gauranteed me they wouldn't fit without a lift and therefore lost my business. I had driven there with 4 tires in my backseat to get mounted and then put my 31s on my wife's Grand Wagoneer.

Yeah, in my user album. Click my username (to the left) and then go to my Profile, and then you can get to the album there. :)

I put 33x12.50r15s mounted on 15x10 rims with 4.5" bs today and had to remove my running boards.......they rub the fenders during a hard turn Left or Right if there's any suspension travel up at all. I'll be driving easy for a week until we get the 4" lift on.....:D

BEFORE with 31s and running boards:

Not for nothing bro, but is your current gear ratio 3.42? If so, you are going to want to change to 3.73 or similar.....700r4`s don`t like real low rpms.
Just don`t want to see you fry that tranny.....I have 31x10.5x15s on mine, and I`m getting ready for a 4th rebuild since I bought her in 2000.

My vehicle is equiped with 3.73s from the factory and verified by my local mechanic. I also have a tranny cooler and shift kit installed! This vehicle was built for towing a trailer from the guy I bought it from and has a pretty beefy class III hitch that is welded to the frame as well. With the 40 gallon tank, I can do some trail riding like no one else:waytogo:

Same here with the 40 gallon tank! I have a Raptor 700r4 from PATC, that was rebuilt by a local shop 21000 miles ago, and the clutches are fried again, and i think something may have broken inside....i also added a cooler.

if you're going through transmissions that badly there is something wrong.......perhaps the shop doing the work!:doah:

That was the case this last time, without question.....only lasted 21000 miles, pretty sad for a shop that has been in business since the 50`s....but then why did my Raptor 700r4 go out before that? I really dont tow anything, and I check my fluids more often than a Muslim kneels on a carpet!

Or driver.
I bet it's a combination of all the above though.
I wouldn't have a problem running 33" tires with 3.08 and a 700, I would just drive it different and not tow with it.
I have driven autos of all kinds and working them hard but not abusing them, and I don't remember having issues with any of them.

I would have a problem with that. 4th would be useless. My 87 burb with 700r4, 3.73s and 31s downshifted on every little hill. I'd recommend 4.10s for 33s and I'm putting in 4.56 to run 35s on my 90 burb. BTW, just smoked a trans with 3.73 and 36s, and I was keeping in it 3rd most of the time and not towing.:dunno: Fluid looked fine when I left, but burnt like crazy on the highway.
