As I venture into my complete restoration, I know that I will have to regear the axles. Before I decide on gearing, I have to decide on tire size.

What is the largest tire you can run w/ a 2" lift and no trimming?

What is the largest tire you can run w/ a 3" lift and no trimming?

What is the largest tire you can run w/ a 4" lift and no trimming?

Depends on if you drive offroad or just on the street. No off road is roughly;

2" = 32x11.5
3" = 32x11.5
4" = 33x12.5

My 91 at stock height had 35" tires and it only rubbed a tiny amount when you first turned and the outer lip of the tire contacted the rear edge of the front fender.

I forget the brand of tires, sorry. And, of course, each tire will be different.

You're asking the question wrong. It should be "with xx lift and yy size tire, how much/where will I need to trim?" Or "what offset rim will minimize trimming with yy tire?"

With no trimming, you can only run about a 32" tire regardless of lift height. When the suspension flexes and the wheels are turned, they will still hit sheet metal, even though the starting point was a couple inches further away. You can use low bump stops, but without suspension travel, what is really the point of lift?

You can gain a lot from trimming just the lower lip from the rear of the front wheel opening. It's not even noticeable unless you get down on the ground and lets you move up at least a whole tire size.

33s on wagon wheels, no lift, no rubbing but its a work rig currently

My CUCV when I had it had 33s 9.5? Stock height, didn't rub street or off road. Swaybar off

My 82 I have right now, 33s, 9.5 stock height, doesn't rub street or off road. Swaybar attached.

Now, both diesels, not sure the difference in springs as far as off roading goes for rubbing. And never checked to see if they were actually 33s, or closer to 32s.

I have stock hight 80 with 33/12.50 with 3.5 backspace it only rubs a little at the rear of the fender just before full lock but only when turning to the right
