I found a pair of Trailblazer seats at a local swap shop, and they look like new. I'd like to buy them and install then in my '86 K5, but I'm nervous that they might not fit. They look just like the seats I have in my '04 Tahoe. Anyhow, has anyone had experience mounting Trailblazer seats in a K5? Would you use the K5 metal mounting base or is it best to use the newer Trailblazer seat mounts? I'm sure the mounting holes do not line up perfectly, so I'm expecting some mounting issues one way or another. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Need some pics of the new seat mounts.

I had a set out of an '03 Tahoe and what I found in measuring those and my '90 lead me to believe that it would be a great swap. I didn't do it to mine as I sold them to a buddy for his. So far I he doesn't have them installed yet. I know that it will take some planning and reinforcement plates to make it work, but I don't believe it would be too bad.

Tahoe and Trailblazer are completely different. The Burb, Hoe, and Silverado seats go into Blazers very nicely. The Trailblazer is the question.

Anything can be made to fit..be easy to just make a boxed frame out of 1-2" square and drill the proper holes and mount it up. The fact those have seatbelts attached is a nice option for adding rear seats too.

That's good to know that they are different, I didn't know, but I was suggesting that he measure and compare as well as don't just bolt them to the floor. With integrated seat belts, the floor takes the load of restraining the person and the seat. The OP wanted suggestions.

Easiest DOCUMMENTED K5 swap is the 99-06 full size chevy/gmc seats. Build a 2 inch square frame that lines up with the old bolt holes and the new seats, and you are done. Work great. Without seeing the new Trailblazer seats, I can not comment on fit. Anything is doable, but at what cost/time. If the seat height is lower than the 99-06 ones they would better in the square body suburbans/crew cabs. But in the flat floor of the K5's they need to come up about 2 inches to be perfect.

I plan to do the same in my burb. I already have some 2004 Silverado seats ready to go in, but would prefer to get them lower. I plan to turn the old belt mount into where some grab handles bolt up. If the Trailblazer seats are lower, I will start searching for a set of them for my burb.

ETA: You can also slightly extend the new adaptor frame and add some extra bolts to reinforce the flat floor. Spreading the load some and hopefully prevent cracking, which the stock floor is known to do.

this is relevant to my interest as there is a set local to me on CL that are from a Trailblazer SS. Guy wants 300 bucks for them. Only reason I'm holding out is because I want something with an armrest built into them.

Might I ask how much you paid for yours?

The guy here in Dallas wants $300 for his Trailblazer SS seats. I have not bought them yet, since I'm having doubts. I think I'll look for Silverado or Tahoe seats...

I have a 03 trailblazer here with full power seats and an 05 with the basic manual seats if anyone needs/wants some quick pictures or measurements.

It's not very hard to get a set of seats to fit, mainly just make sure they are physically large enough to look right in a full size. You'd be surprised what fits. My seats in my K5 are from a later model C class Mercedes car.

I'll take as many pics and measurements as you can get. Mostly it about the base size and height.

You will need to weld something together to make them work. Doesn't mater which seat you choose really. Especially if you are hoping to reuse the factory holes in the floor. If you don't, throw some big plates under the floor for support. These new seats are nice with the seat belt, but remember, in an accident the old belt was bolted separately, now you are asking the seat bolts to hold you AND the seat belt.

Anything can be done. I have Suburu WRX seats in mine :D

I really appreciate the pictures and measurements. I've had a "full plate" these last few days, and I haven't had time to think about seats. I'll compare your measurements with my stock seats to see how it will compare. You said the seats in your pics are 2005 Trailblazer (manual adjustment) seats, right?

I drive a trailblazer and the main difference I see that you need to plan for is the trailblazer has the seatbelts attached to the seat, so either you need to remove it from the seat and leave a big hole there, or remove the seatbelts from you truck and use those new belts, but then you better make sure the seats are mounted solid, because you don't want to tear the whole seat out with you in it in a crash.

You are absolutely correct. My factory seatbelts (mounted to the b-pillar) are frayed and dried out/stiff from 29 years of use and sun damage. It's time for new belts anyhow. I'll have to brace the seat mounts under the truck really well. Seems like I ran across a good write up somewhere about this very topic. I'll see if I can find that again.

Yes the pics are from the manual adjustment seats in my 05. The 03 full power, heated leather seats measured the same.

I also edited the other post with the picture of the inside frame height.
