while wheeling a friend spun the center section on his 14b and broke both front shaftsand tore the steering box off-ie broke the mounting ears and bolts holding it to the frame.he runs 46" ag tires.
heres a pic of the rig while it was having the front shafts replaced so we could get it off the mountian.

once back at my house we used the porta power to twist the center section back into place.then i rewelded the center to the tubes.did a triple pass on the center section to tube joint.then knocked out all the old plug welds and rewelded them.
after that was done i built a truss out of 3x3x3/16th-owner supplied-and then made plates to bridge from the truss to the diff center.
everywhere the truss touched the center section i used a nickel alloy rod,i used regular mig for all the plate to truss areas and truss to tube areas.
heres what it looks like finished.chris painted it before i got pics of it lol

Damn did you stick weld that thing on there? I hope you took it slow when welding the center chunk.

lol tell your bud to get some rockwells!

I like how it looks like you guys dont feel the need to sky tires for the mud!

Btw is that a grand cherokee on like 38s next to it?

that is a poorly built bronco.it beaks everytime he takes it out.
everywhere the truss touched the cast center it was welded with stick.spent about 3 hrs welding it.preheated the center before it was welded.where it touched the tube a mig was used.
he just up graded the front shafts to longfield cvs-ouch they are spendy lol but very very nice.

Yeah the Bronco is a turd,

The crazy thing about the Ag tires there actually Lighter than a 44" bogger but they do provide alot more traction

:eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1::eek1:

That surprises me

LOL yeah yeah its a ford , I dunno theres just some stuff on it thats total Booty-fab

Plus the owner and I disagree on Trail use issues Like drinking on the trail ,Etc

Its not all "mud" up here theres lots of Nasty Hill climbs,off-camber, Deep fast moving river crossings, rocks, rutted out ravines, a little bit off everything,
You need it low and flexy up here .

Man, I know you gotta do what you gotta do when you're stranded, but that is one scary picture of you under the truck with just the high lift holding it.
Of course, I can't talk, I've done worse than that.
Good welding job looks like.
In the underside picture, it looks like the chunk is pointing up slightly. Was he in reverse when it snapped, or did it go all the way around?

I thought the same thing about the saftey factor but he's got 2 winch lines on it and I'm guessing it's in park with the e brake on.... wouldn't have hurt to throw some rocks behind the rear tires though.

Yellowk20,
How do those ag tires do on the trail.... I.E. not mud?

In a word .... Awesome . there known as the Alaskan all terrain.

the only down side is not being Dot approved

you can get a complete set shipped for the price of 2 44 boggers that are heavier and dont work as well
