I've been around here for several years (formerly AkMudr) but after a few years of bein a dad and workin too f'n much I started lookin for another truck errrrr project. I'm out of wheelin trucks these days but wanted a kickass street queen for haulin the family around in, towing and camping.

A few months ago I saw an ad for a 77 and jumped on it. Nothin fancy. 4" lift, 35's, stock drivetrain. But it had a big block and the body was CLEAN.

The warden gave the nod and away we went. I think I paid a bit much given its a 32 year old truck, but a really CLEAN 32 yo truck..wouldnt be much different than a 10 year old Tahoe purchase.

Bein that I can't leave anythin alone, I drove it for 2 weeks then on a saturday the sun was out, and out came the tools. I stripped the interior. 2 coats of POR-15 and 2 boxes of dynamat later, she was ready for carpet. Took forever for my parts to show up but the man in green left me a package yesterday, so I had to leave early in fear of having a very expensive box sitting on my porch. Did a 1" ORD body lift and new Daystar rubber. Few other goodies are a deeper tranny pan and gauges to keep an eye on things.

Routed all my audio cable, layed out 2 4x6 sheets of heat shield (which fit perfectly) and did the front end. I wasnt uber pelased with the carpet, but it sounds like LMC is gonna give me the big **** off and I hafta deal with it.

The motor is about the only thing I wont be playin with '67 396 Block, bored, pistons, lumpy cam, 781 heads, edelbrock fuel, crane gold race rockers yadda yadda, headers, super 3" exhaust with a X-over and flow master 40's I wish there was a dyno up here.

So any who, here are a few pics on how it sits right now. I'll get the rear carpet done tomorrow and start the sidepanels. I wanted diamond plate, but, the ole lady is already wanting to strangle me. lol

On the list?
205 swap
8 Lug upgrade
Hydro Boost brakes

They are aftermarket, made my FlexSteel. If I had the time and equipment I would have patched all the holes in the floor from the seats. PO simply eyeballed them and drilled some holes, right thru the original welded nuts..looks like **** but Ill fix it someday.

Should have gotten some before shots but it's coming along real nice. Waiting for a few more parts though.

I love the brown/white exterior and I love a red interior, but my God, who in their right mind would have ordered both on the same truck!? Are you switching the whole interior over to black?

EDIT That is brown isn't it? Or is it just the lighting?

Faded maroon interior. White/Red exterior. Yup, all black interior. Was a long drive to work today with no tunes, though, LOL. The paint has a touch of metallic.

Good looking rig... it appears the mod 'bug' is starting to bite. I would definitely look to upgrade the 10bolt with the powerplant you have.

I'd like to upgrade to 1tons but with a baby on the way, the 203 PT kit, 14bolt rear with disc/Detroit and 8lug outers is probably the best I can do for now.

i love your K5 minus the faded maroon interior... the seats would be nice if they were a different color but overall i really like it. it looks really clean and kinda like a sleeper but still enough to be bada**. anymore pics or any updates? is that a cheyenne model? id really like to see the crossover pipe, the interior, and the motor. is the hood fiberglass or steel?

Yes!! Cheyenne model, I kept all the interior Cheyenne edition pieces and sanded/painted around everything. Re-skinned the headliner, new door seals, tailgate seals, POR-15 from front to back. Sleeper? Nope..I can be heard a mile away LOL.

Hood is fiberglass. I just installed new spray nozzles, only to have the brand new washer pump go up in smoke.

Interior is done (but is it ever really done?). Full black, made new rear 1/4 panels, skinned them in black and have them in. I'll throw some pics up later tonight. Also did a 1" ORD lift and bushings, new fuel tank/sender, deeper tranny pan and gauge. I do need to re-skin the back seat but that can wait.

Next...8 lug. Just picked up a 14bolt w/ 4.10's and a d44 4.10's w/ Hysteer. Pissed me off becuase Tuesday I blew a tire and had to drop 240 for a new BFG AT:shocked:

Exhaust tips need to be turned 45* out.

Oh and HydroBoost and disc brakes.

well in pictures it looks like a sleeper lol but im sure with the 396 you can be heard from a mile away. why are you going to hydroboost though? are you still using the hinges w/o the springs with your hood? oh and the exhaust tips look good like they are i think.

Factory hood hinges - Yes, springs no. I use a hood rod and pins. Hood is a Harwood with sheetmetal substructure.

Hydroboost - Cam robs vacuum, I'm like 10" at idle. I might dork around with the timing a bit I dont really have much room to play until it starts to ping even with w/ 90 octane. I plan on towing up to 4500#'s.

Exhaust tips..All I smell is exhaust with the rear window down lol.

you know how to solve that then don't ya... don't put the rear window down then! haha can you use the factory hood latch instead of using pins to hold it down?

How about some new pics;)

When you did the 1 inch BL, were you able to keep the tailgate tension springs?

Factory hood latch is there, it works, but I like the extra pirce of mind with pins

How about some new pics;)

Yes, tailgate springs still work, well 1 on them..the other was broken and I havent sourced another. Was a bitch putting the bracket back on the frame rail but once I got it back on I liberally applied some anti-seize.
